Dr Stephen Coakley BA (Mod Geo) LLB LLM PhD PGeo EurGeol

Stephen Coakley is Project Scientist based in Ireland with more 13 years of experience in environmental geology. His work has focused on investigation, assessment, management, and remediation of operational and legacy industrial sites in the dairy, manufacturing, pharmaceutical, and oil industries, as well as unregulated landfills. Stephen has managed the investigation and remediation of sites contaminated by chlorinated solvents and hydrocarbons, including the application of enhanced in-situ bioremediation in a fractured bedrock setting. Stephen assists corporate clients with environmental due diligence projects.

Stephen is a chartered geologist (PGeo) with the Institute of Geologists of Ireland and with the European Federation of Geologists (EurGeol). He received a first-class Honours degree and a PhD in Geology from Trinity College Dublin, where he was also employed as a research assistant and as Teaching Fellow in Sedimentology. In his early career, Stephen worked as a lawyer in one of Ireland’s leading commercial law firms, where his work included environmental liability litigation in the Irish Courts.
