Jim Wragg, BSc, MSc, FGS

Jim has more than 30 years of experience in the detailed investigation, assessment and remediation of contaminated soil and groundwater, mainly working for industrial clients.

Jim's hands-on experience of corrective action programme design and implementation for many complex sites, including regulatory negotiation makes him a leading consultant in this field in the UK. He has worked with numerous clients in the pharmaceutical, chemical, power (gas, coal and nuclear), manufacturing and oil and gas sectors.

Jim has managed and directed long-term programmes of work to identify, characterise and remediate soil and groundwater contamination at active industrial complexes in the UK, Europe, South Africa and Brazil. These projects incorporated the use of a broad range of remedies including process-based contaminant extraction, enhanced in-situ bioremediation, in-situ chemical oxidation and thermally enhanced remediation. Key challenges overcome in delivering these projects have included low permeability and fractured rock source areas, recalcitrant and novel contaminants. These were overcome using a range of high-resolution investigation and remedial characterisation techniques to provide cost effective solutions.
