Thomas Watkins, MSc
Thomas Watkins is a graduate environmental geologist working on the monitoring and remediation of contaminated land across the United Kingdom and Ireland.
Thomas graduated from the University of Portsmouth with a first-class Bachelor of Science degree with honours in Geology in 2020 and a master’s degree with distinction in Environmental Geology and Land Contamination in 2021.
Thomas is particularly interested in pursuing the feasible application of nanoremediation for contaminated sites, with his final master’s dissertation focused on the potential and recent real-world applications of engineered nanomaterials for remediating soils, sediments and groundwaters contaminated with the metalloid Arsenic. He endeavours to investigate the future of remedial nanomaterials, the problems with their innate or manufactured properties, their effectiveness during application, adverse effects and safe disposal or regeneration post-remediation.
